ALL INDUSTRY DAY

Monday, November 13, 2000
San Francisco Hilton Hotel

Keynote Luncheon Speaker - Ira Blumenthal, international business development expert, consultant, instructor and author.

Topic: "Change is Inevitable. Growth Is Optional"

Ira Blumenthal is an international business development expert. As the founder and president of CO-OPPORTUNITIES, an Atlanta-based consulting company, Ira has counseled world class clients such as Coca-Cola, Nestle, Exxon, Wal-Mart, United Artists and others. He serves as a visiting instructor at Michigan State University and The University of Notre Dame. Ira is an award-winning writer and author of Ready, Blame, and Fire! (a book on the "myths" and "misses" in marketing) and was honored as the recipient of the George Washington Honor Medal For Literary Excellence (Freedoms Foundation). Ira is a visionary business leader who has been featured and quoted in media sources such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, BrandWeek, Entrepreneur, CNN and more.

Ira will speak on change. There is one constant in life (and business)...change! Yet, change is not new. What is new is the incredible speed of change. Industries, companies and careers have gone from "distinction" to "extinction" because of their inability to adapt, adjust and master change.

Using a unique real-life fact pattern, well known insurance professionals and local insurance counsel, this session will undoubtedly benefit all attendees. Today's evolution in technology is the driving catalyst for dramatic change in most businesses. The insurance industry is not exempt: the rate of change is escalating as new entrants introduce new business models and established companies (both carriers and agencies) finally realize that they must change to survive. To do so, the industry must overcome significant obstacles including outdated regulation, expensive legacy systems, illogical pricing, and bureaucratic cultures. The successful companies will capitalize on emerging opportunities to differentiate themselves with innovative products and services for their customers.
